Abstract
The configuration space of points in the Euclidean plane gives rise to some very intriguing mathematical objects, such as the holonomy representations of braid groups or the Drinfeld associator. I will review the general picture (as far as I know it) and indicate generalizations to higher dimensions. Most of what I will present relies on work of other people, but some efforts made by Camilo Arias Abad and myself will be described as well.
