Abstract:
Teichmueller curves are curves in the moduli spaces of curves that originate from billiards tables with very special dynamics. The uniformizing groups of these curves are quite mysterious and so are their corresponding modular forms. We show that (many) Teichmueller curves can be defined by methods already known to Riemann, namely derivatives of Theta functions. This approach sheds light into the number theory of Teichmueller curves.
